Yellowstone upper loop

On the cold mornings I only had mittens for Carlie. So fuzzy socks had to work for Donny. He actually kept them on too.

He looked a little like Winnie the Pooh with his "paws"

The sky view from out campsite.

 A frosty morning.

 Nap time

The family of deer that visited our campsite.

The cold made the chocolate very hard. John had to warm the whole s'more ingredients to make the perfect s'more.

 Cold hands.

A warm fire in the morning.

This wall of stone was fascinating. The base was carved out where you could stand under it.

Up close it looks very precarious and after taking these pictures we noticed the sign saying it was very dangerous and we weren't supposed to be over near the stone.

It felt like looking up on a warm spring day to see a huge ice cycle that has been building all winter.

I thought this rock structure was so fascinating the way the mountain has that strait wall around the top as if the sides fell down or the top was pushed up.

At times it's the most simple things that are beautiful.

 Carlie had some bad static.

A large herd of buffalo decided to cross the road to get water.
And made us all wait.

Two elk grazing near the road.

I don't know if this rock has a special name but it was so odd. Stand there by itself.

These huge sulfur pots have built up minerals over everything and created what looks like a icy mountain.

We found a tree with a perfect seat but the sun was in their eyes.

You can see the sulfur and heat kills the trees.

The end of another great day.

Carlie always looked forward to  going to get coffee with Daddy in the evening.
