Grassy Point

It was a beautiful morning to start a fishing trip.  Donny woke us all up early so I got an even earlier start than I had planned.  That gave me plenty of time to get an anchor at Wal-Mart for my kayak, eat some sausage biscuits from McDonalds and pick up some live shrimp from the bait shop plus find a new fishing hole and I still got on the water just as the sun peeked above the horizon.  There's nothing like getting up at 3:30 for a good fishing trip.  You've got to be dedicated if you want to get the big ones.  :)

15" Speckled Trout.  First cast before the shrimp sunk from the surface.

The big one's on!  It was on the last dead shrimp I saved just in case I ran out of live ones.  He hit about two seconds after I cast.

There he is!  A Red Drum measuring around 35".  I couldn't get an exact measurement because my tape is only 30".

Unfortunately he was too big to keep.  Florida law gives a slot for keeper fish.  They have to be longer than 18" but shorter than 27" so he wasn't even close.  Way to big!
