Spare Time

I was talking with my friend Carol a few days ago and we were discussing projects we had been working on. A few years ago when Carol and I worked together we discussed starting a small business to sell our crafts and project ideas but we never found the time to get our supply up enough....and time goes on. Well, Carol, here are a few of the things I've been working on the last few years. I know they are far from perfect but most of them are first tries. When I get an idea I try to make it so I will remember how to do it and can perfect it later. Here you go. Let me know what you think?

Baby booties.

Infant sweat.
I ended up adding butterfly buttons.
I made a blue one as well but never took a picture of it.

Christmas ornaments from old cards.

Pine cone door ornament.
I changed the ribbon and removed the leaves for Christmas.

A pumpkin hat.

Two pumpkin hats.

A grapevine wreath, from scuppernong vines.

Another hat!

A try at a hedgehog.

( you can laugh...it's ok)
I think it would scare most children

I painted the matting on this poem to match the nursery.
I found this poem at a second hand store. My mum used to recite this poem often and
a friend read it at Carlie's baby shower.

A try at a taggie.

I think this pattern is called stained glass.

I don't think I ever got a picture of this quilt completed before I gave it away.

A Christmas night dress for Carlie's first Christmas

Another quilt

Matching bear
A friend's little girl saw me making the bear and covered her eyes
when she saw the head and body of the bear not together yet.

With matching pillows

The church asked me to make banners.
John worked a lot on these and really made them look great.

Wall art

I didn't have stockings to hang the first few Christmases here.
So I made large mittens and a small one for baby Carlie, we were expecting.

I thought I would try to make a bear.
After working on it a while I realized it was going to be huge.
I couldn't understand why, when the pattern I drew my pattern from said it was a bear
about a foot high. I drew if from the computer. John came home and after getting over the
surprise of finding such a large, pink guest sitting on the couch, pointed out
the pattern scale was greatly enlarged on the screen, a small detail ending in such a large bear.

And the oddest sewing request I've had yet.
John's friend from out at the base tore his wresting mat and needed it patched.
It was very big and very heaving but I guess it held up since he hasn't sent it back.
(or it didn't hold and he gave up confidence in my mending)
A more reasonably sized bear.
