It will never cease to amaze me how much a one year old can accomplish in the amount of time it takes for me to feed the baby a bottle, or run outdoors "just for a second." In the time it takes me to feed the baby a bottle I have found Carlie has totally emptied the closet of clothes and spread it all over the room and up the hall, taken all the pins out of a pin cushion and spread them all over the laundry room, unfold an hours worth of folded laundry, emptied a canister of rouge on the ottoman and broken all the teeth off a comb I had had over ten years, taken all the photos out of a thick photo book, put the living room in such disrepair it took me an hour to put it back, figure out how to plug in her special flower lights on her room window and how to turn on her lamp, take all the towels and wash clothes out of the cabinets and put them into the bathtub, taken all her blocks and books and put them into the fireplace (thankfully it wasn't lit), unpacked all the babies clothes I had put away because they have been outgrown, and more. You get the idea. I think one of these days I'll get her to put her energies into productive efforts and I'll have nothing to do all day but sit back and watch, if she keeps this pace up.
Carlie has also been learning to talk. Words she says easily and often, Mama, Daddy, hi, baby, bye bye, oh dear, u-oh, no nonono, no way, that, no ma'am, don't know, please, and a few others.
This week I saw a picture of baby pumpkin hats and decided to make some for the babies.
Carlie Jane's pumpkin hat.
Some how I never got a picture of Donny Doddle's hat
We have scuppernong vines growing on our back fence and I decided to try to make a wreath last week
It never got as full as I needed it but the babies got tired of waiting on me and I like the vines on the fence and didn't want to thin it out too much.
Talking to Daddy.
Carlie Jane working on her first work of art.
She loves to play out on the brick walk while I'm working in the kitchen.
This is her other new hat.
There is something about cooler weather that makes me feel like crocheting and knitting again.
A little gardening
Our smiley little man
On Halloween we had a bonfire and finally finished burning up the rest of the brush from when John cleared the place for his shed.
Starting the fire
Little Donny slept the whole evening and Carlie really enjoyed the time together.
Her fake smile
James, Sara, and the girl's came over for some fun with us.
It was windy and chilly so the fire felt nice
Anna and Carlie are only four months apart in age and enjoy playing together.
Carlie had to try out all the chairs to see which one was best.
I brought out a box that needed to be burned but it worked well for a table.
Carlie's blanket was used as a table cloth to make the tea party more official.
Dad and Mum Bryan brought over ingredients for s'mores.
Yummy!
The temperature dropped and Anna had to add a few extra layers of clothes
After everyone left John and Carlie sat by the fire to settle down and get ready for bed.
This weekend was more work on the shed
Sunday afternoon, Carlie Jane helped me make a pumpkin roll.
She loves to help cook.
My scuppernong wreath
It looks a little thin...I'll work more on it later.
Finally, The bike in her new home!
After a little ride on Sunday afternoon. The bike was introduced to her new home.
My big helper
Carlie is really enjoying every new thing Donny learns to do.
