Maine II

We are back in Florida, arriving about 11:00 last evening. I am refreshed just remembering the wonderful days we shared in Maine. We saw some beautiful leaves, spent a night at the cabin on the water, saw a moose, had all you can eat lobster at Jay and Roseanna's, bonfire at Matt and Vicki's, split wood, lots of time with old friends...The flights went so much better than I feared they might. The babies were so good. I could tell many stories of all we did and enjoyed but the best thing was just being together. The whole McFarland gang was together for one evening for the first time in years. We got a quick picture together.

You can clearly see Charity's boat that John and I took out for a row the morning after we spent the night at the cottage.

Carlie Jane first visit to the Maine beach

 It was chilly.

Uncle Jay went out to the sea weed to catch a crab to show Carlie Jane

It isn't easy to organize a family picture anymore.

But we got some good ones

 Some bad ones ...
 And some cute ones

Mum was proudly showing April Dawn all the pictures from our week together

Mum had refinished some little chairs and it was just right for Carlie Jane

 We went out Moose "hunting"

Dad talked with some of his friends who do some guiding for moose hunts
and they pointed up in the general area to look for moose.

We drove for miles out on dirt roads and found this girl standing right by the road.
She had all the time in the world and just stood there posing for us.

Carlie had been exclaiming about all the trees and rocks as we drove out through the woods looking for moose but when we finally found a moose she hardly reacted, only pointing.
The cow was a little small but we were so excited to see her we didn't care.

John hadn't seen a moose before

 Tea party with Grammie
Mum has tea cups she got just for tea parties with the grand kids.
I was worried they would break and was surprised they lasted the whole week
but Mum assured me she got them to be broken having fun.

 Carlie loved collecting eggs

She would get the little egg basket and head out to the hen house.

 Grampie loved to help

 Where are the eggs?

 Careful, careful

 She only broke one, surprisingly.

Three eggs this morning...well there had been four

Proudly showing them to Grammie. She took one out of the basket and was shaking them.
I quickly too them to be cleaned before we had none survive.

Lunch with Uncle Jay at Giant Sub before leaving for Portland

Mum was such a big help taking care of baby John.

Jay was trying to provoke Carlie Jane into making more of a mess then she already was making.

 Charity made us great sandwiches
